Honda Rancher Es Electric Shift Not Wanting To Shift

My father has an 2004 honda rancher 4wd es 350. one morning he attempted to put it into first gear and the neutral symbol on the gear indicator just blinked..



Honda rancher 350 es 4x4 the electric shift doesn't work and the digital display for gear selection flashes in a series of 2. can you tell me what this means.

I thought it would be a quick video but i still talked forever. maybe some info will help you. my problem was most likely different than yours..
